Title of the Innovation: Curcumin encapsulated chitosan alginate sponge useful for wound healing
Brief About Innovation
Brief: The current approach designed a curcumin loaded bandage composed of oleic acid chitosan and sodium alginate for dermal wound healing application
The alginate chitosan bandage with entrapped therapeutics are of special interest for wound healing purposes owing to their biocompatibility, biodegradability and ability to sustain the therapeutic drug level for prolonged period of time.
The in vivo wound healing study demonstrated the formulated curcumin loaded polymeric bandage with large surface area facilitated its interaction with the healing tissue there by served as a substrate for the sustained delivery of curcumin as well as improved wound healing by protecting tissues from oxidative damage and inflammation compared to control and void bandage.
