Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC) for MSMEs has been established at NRDC Visakhapatnam on 28th January 2017. The Centre has actively undertaken consultancy to various entrepreneurs and MSMEs on Trademarks, Copy rights, Industrial Designs, Geographical indications, Patents both national and International, Industrial/layout designs, and Service marks. The objective of NRDC-IPFC is to promote technological innovation and IP promotion and commercialization in the region in view of growing industrialization and start-up ecosystem. NRDC-IPFC Visakhapatnam has developed wide network with scientific and industrial community in southern India. It is working effectively towards its roles and objectives in activities including technologies licensing, IP facilitation and capacity building and awareness programs and participated in many exhibitions and technology promotional activities of multilateral organizations like WIPO, USPTO, EBTC, IPO, JETRO, UK IPO, and UNIDO and conducted various technologies entrepreneurship development programs. NRDC IPFC Visakhapatnam focused to make the centre self-sustainable and worked towards its vision and mission readily. Acting as a bridge between R&D Institutions and Industry, NRDC-IPFC has provided IPR and technology transfer services to various PSU’s/start-ups/entrepreneurs and MSME’s including IPR consultancy services to ordnance factories. The activities carried out by NRDC-IPFC Visakhapatnam from its inception.

NRDC Visakhapatnam received “IP Recognition Award” at 4th Edition IPTSE Awards & IP Conclave on 19th April 2022
from Hon’ble judge of the Delhi High Court Justice Prathiba Singh for contribution towards strengthening IP ecosystem in the country.

Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre

NRDC in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro Small & Medium Enterprise (Mo MSME), Govt. of India, has established an Intellectual Property Rights Facilitation Centre (IPFC).The objective is to promote awareness and adoption of Intellectual Property Rights amongst MSMEs, individual entrepreneurs, start-ups and industry. The IPFC aims to strengthen their competitiveness, generate awareness and provide insights into the complex mechanism of creation, ownership, and protection of Intellectual Property.

• Assistance for Filing of applications for patents, trademarks, copyrights and GIs with follow up services.                    

• Partners with MSMEs of India and abroad to introduce IP management within the enterprise.

MISSION

The NRDC-IPFC Centre, while aiming to strengthen the MSME competitiveness to become part of global business community, will endeavor to build greater awareness and provide insights into the complex mechanism of creation, ownership and protection of Intellectual Property.

IPFC OBJECTIVES

• To encourage and empower MSMEs to create value addition and building assets through effective exploitation and commercialization of IP such as Patents, Designs, Trademarks, Copyrights and protect also the trade secrets and confidential information.
• To serve as a repository of IP information for MSMEs in the Country
• To establish network in the above areas for use and sourcing by MSMEs and entrepreneurs.

SERVICES

         The following services are available at IPFC:

• To render IPR awareness, training, protection, information & advisory services, through empaneled IPR Experts/Agents/attorneys, specialized in IP Laws for filing (national and international level), protection and litigation matters.
• To identify areas of IP services for MSMEs.
• To conduct short term and long term training programmes on IPR for students/professionals/researchers and MSMEs.

STEERING COMMITTEE

A steering committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Chairman & Managing Director of NRDC and having representation from MSMEDI- DIC- IPR attorneys, Industry Association members, Research Scientist, Academics, IPR consultants and professionals. The committee will meet at defined periodicity as per their plan to formulate the policy and take decisions with respect to the activities of IPFC and review the same.

IPR CLINIC:

NRDC conducts IPR –Clinics on every month and reach out various stakeholders at their door step to make available the domain technical experts empanelled with NRDC –IPFC for interaction with MSME belonging to different categories. The beneficiary has to take the prior appointment and do the preliminary discussion with IPFC officials by phone or mail in order to avail the facilitation service of IPR clinic.

NRDC Visakhapatnam has executed and entered into a memorandum of understanding with Andhra Pradesh Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA) & Atal Incubation Centre, Sri Krishnadevaraya University, for promoting IP management, innovation management and to provide services in  technology transfer and commercialization, training & capacity building, techno-commercial support, evaluation and validation of technologies.
