India’s 3^rdTechnology Innovation Support Centre (TISC) has been set up in National Research Development Corporation under the aegis of WIPO of United Nations through CIPAM, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt.of India.The same was inaugurated by then Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Suresh Prabhu and Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr N Chandra Babu Naidu on 25^th February 2018 at Visakhapatnam. NRDC became proud member of WIPO Green Network based on its credentials, expertise, infrastructure and activity profile.

The Centre was visited by Head, Technology & Innovation Support Division of WIPO and team

NRDC/TISC is providing following services to innovators, academia, industry, MSMEs and startups:

• Facilitating access to international standard IP facilities to the innovators of the region in terms of database access for ascertaining the novelty & inventiveness
• Filing of Patents, Designs, Trademarks and Copyrights;
• Training & Capacity building & IP Technology Scan Reports
• Information on global inforce/off patent industrial inventions & Government initiatives for promoting innovations & IPRs
• Sharing of Case studies/best practices of other countries
• Experience sharing platform
• Facilitates IP commercialization, technology transfer & licensing.

NRDC-TISC Achievements So far:

• Received Citation as Best TISC (Technology and Innovation Support Centre) National Award for the year 2020
• Conducted more than 230 capacity building programme on IP, Innovation, Technology transfer
• Conducted more than 250 Patent Searches
• Facilitated and filed 267 Patent applications with due diligence. The center has facilitated and registered about 142 Trademarks, 31 copyrights and 32 Industrial designs since inception.
• Supporting IP facilitation to many universities, Corporate, Startups and MSMEs.
• Trained 03 Women Scientists under KIRAN-IPR Program of TIFAC, DST, GoI.
• Successfully transferred and commercialized more than 50 technologies.

• Received much national and international recognition from various forum and agencies.

IPR Support and Services - NRDC/TISC

Academic institution (private or public) / Govt. Departments, PSUs, Startups, MSMEs andIndividual Innovators invited to seek or undertake invention assessment by requesting for an IP & patent search on their invention. The same may be obtained from NRDC/TISC by the following procedure:

1. SUBMIT PATENT ABSTRACT:An inventor needs to submit an abstract describing novelty features of his invention through his head of the institution/nodal officer of IPR cell to NRDC/TISC.
    
2. SEARCH CONDUCTED:NRDC/TISC conducts patent search/IP search based on the submitted abstract and keywords and sends the confidential patent search report to the inventor along with a questionnaire form to be filled in by the inventor in case novelty is ascertained by him.
    
3. FILLING OF QUESTIONARE FORM:Inventor to scrutinize the patent search report and re-submit the filled in questionnaire form and other requisite documents upon establishing novelty of his invention along with request for patent filing through proper channel.
    
4. NRDC/TISC to process the case for IP filing with respect to patentability criteria and other clearances required from inventor's institution(s) & funding agency (if any) and onward submission to PFC-TIFAC, DST-GoI.
    
5. REPRESENTATION OF CASES NRDC/TISC:represents the cases forwarded for IP filing/  patent filing reviewedby NRDC Competent Authority. On approval, the case is allocated to an empanelled law firm for IP registration/ patent drafting & filing. Corporate and PSUs cases deal separately through mutual understanding mechanism.
    
6. INVENTOR-ATTORNEY MEETINGS to co-ordinate inventor-attorney meetings for discussions during patent drafting &filing at Indian Patent Office.
    
7. SUPPORT OF NRDC/TISC PRE & POST FILING: Full support of NRDC/TISC to inventor in all pre & post filing correspondences regarding the patent (Patent Office & Law firms).
    
8. IP REGISTRATION/ PATENT FILING SERVICES INCLUDING LEGAL, FINANCIAL & TECHNICAL SUPPORT (PATENT DRAFTING, PATENT FILING FEES, ATTORNEY FEES etc.
    

• • IP/ Patent will be filed in the name of the institution where the inventor is employed or studying
  • Inventor to file for his patent prior to publishing /presenting his invention in any form
  • Inventor to furnish correct details regarding his invention (inventorship, publishing information, funding information)
