Title of the Innovation: Low cost multi filter element system for ground water recharging by using rain water

Brief About Innovation

India receives a good amount of rainfall but most of it goes unharnessed. Even the available solutions for harvesting rainfall are rooftop water harvesting, bunds, reservoirs; dams etc. do not have enough capacity or go dry in the later months. A solution to harness rain to its full capacity is to artificially recharge the underground water table which is alarmingly receding because of overutilization. The technology developed ‘Multi element rainwater harvesting filter’ facilitates the groundwater recharge through rainwater harvesting. Existing methods are clogging the underground streams and while recharging, they allow fine mud to enter underground water table. This mud is a hard task to remove. In order to save water for future generation efficient recharge of ground water is important.

•  Improves the quality and quantity of groundwater
•  Prevents the soil erosion due to the inundating rainwater
•  Raises the groundwater level; therefore, the cost of pumping groundwater reduces.
•  Increased availability of groundwater reduces/eliminate drudgery by making water available throughout the year.
•  Low cost system with long service life.
•  The Non-woven Filters can be easily washed, cleaned and reused, whenever become dirty due to mud etc. in the collected rainwater. Therefore, only clean filtered rainwater recharges the groundwater resource.
•  The system requires no other maintenance or service.
