Wide range of distilled Zinc dust is manufactured to meet the demands of various industries like chemical paints and pigments etc. The technology being offered in this proposal to produce zinc dust is based on distillation process and this plant is based on modular units. The product is of finely divided heavy metallic dust of Zinc having high purity with very fine uniform properties. The modular construction of the plant is an advantageous feature of the technology. Both liquid or compressed Nitrogen can be used but the purity of Nitrogen is most important factor.

ADVANTAGES

  • There is no pollution hazard.

  • There is practically no chance of explosion.

  • Water used for cooling is recycled.

  • Nitrogen re-circulation is optional depending upon the cost of Nitrogen.

  • Eliminates all possibilities of oxidation of Zinc dust in process.

APPLICATIONS

Distilled Zinc dust are preferred in major applications such as chemical industry, paint & pigment industry and metal extraction industry. Improved yields, faster reaction kinetics and consistent quality are inherent characteristics of distilled grade Zinc dust  on account of their greater homogeneity and uniformly fine particles.

The uniform particle size and spherical shape of the product provides the  zinc rich paint formulations superior brushing qualities and improved suspension characteristics.

PROCESS

Distilled Zinc dust is produced by melting and vaporising zinc metal followed by the condensation of the pure zinc vapour by shock chilling in cool Nitrogen atmosphere directly into a very fine homogeneous dust having particle size below 45 micron. Detachable tilting type furnace is pulled back to load the zinc metal broken into small pieces, the furnace is linked with furnace and fired. After achieving the required heat vaporisation starts and the condensers, cyclone and bag house are flushed with nitrogen. Zinc dust is condensed in the condenser, finer dust with nitrogen is passed through cyclone & bag house. 80% of the distilled zinc dust is collected in the condenser and remaining in cyclone and bag house. The zinc dust collected is processed in sieve shaker, micron separator and finally sent for packaging.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

Product will meet the specifications as laid down in ASTM D-520
