ELISA KIT FOR CORTISOL

Cortisol is a secretary product
and plays an important role in maintaining the metabolic activity of the
body. Estimation of cortisol is one of the most useful parameters to assess
hormonal disorders such as Cushing’s syndrome, Addison’s disease, Adrenal
tumours and congenital adrenal hyperplasia. The enzyme linked
immunosorbant assay (ELISA) that is developed is a quantitative in-vitro
diagnostic method for measuring corticol inserum. It is a simple two-hour
ELISA method for direct measurement of cortisol inserum. ELISA kit based on
our technology is quick, specific and sensitive. The major components of this
test have been found stable at specific temperature for certain period. EVALUATION OF THE KIT The performance of the kit was compared with imported kits obtained from (a) FENZIA, Onion Diagnostics, Finland and (b) Boehringer Mannheim Ltd-GmbH, Germany. These gave correlation coefficients of 0.81 and 0.78 respectively. These kits were evaluated at (a) Private Research Laboratory, Centre for Reproductive Biology and Molecular Endocrinology, IISc, Bangalore, (b) Department Of Endocrinology, Dr. A.L.M. Postgraduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Tasamani, Madras, (c) Department Of Endocrinology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh and at (d) Tata Medical Research Centre, Jamshedpur. A 100 tube Cortisol Kit
is likely to cost approximately Rs.1500/-. Marketing costs will be extra. |
