The present distillery and other industries like the Tanneries, Pigment & Dye industries are facing the problem of treating their effluents to remove the colour in addition to TDS, COD, BOD. The present methods being used like extended aeration, concentration by evaporation etc require vast areas & high power. The patented technology developed at Malladi Project Management and Research Centre Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, India, pertains to the treatment of effluent to produce permeate water, where the colour of the effluent having a psychological impact on the public is removed. This can be used as process water, thus creating a Zero pollution atmosphere & is Eco-friendly. The quality obtained also conforms to the standards of the Pollution Control Board.

Process
Major Operational Steps Involved :

  • Pre treatment of the effluent
  • Clarification of pre treated effluent
  • Pre filtration of clarified effluent
  • Ultra filtration

Process Advantage

  • The latest world class technology.
  • The water recovered from the treatment process conforms to the norms of CPCB/ state PCB’s
  • The water will be suitable for reuse in the plant
  • The land requirement for the treatment plant is very small
  • Zero pollution atmosphere & Eco-friendly
  • The sludge can be used for briquetting, reclaiming the acid soil & land filling.
  • Designed to meet the varying parameters of the input effluent.
  • Commercial plant already in operation.

Scale of Development

A pilot plant having capacity of 80 lit of feed/batch of effluent has been carried out for a period of 6 months.

BENEFITS

  • Operating cost on process water substantially reduced
  • Land saving otherwise used for lagoons etc.
  • Concentrate sludge used for Bio-earth production.
