Digested organic supplement (DOrS) is the end product obtained by converting various organic wastes such as agriculture wastes (residues like coir pith, mushroom waste, poultry droppings, animal dung, etc.) into a useable fertilizer by a modified aerobic-cum-anaerobic process of composting. This conversion process is elaborate enough to control and maintain the quality of product and maximise the retension of nutrients.
The various organic wastes received from the farms or other sources are segregated and allowed to decompose under controlled conditions and environment by creating an optimal C:N ratio for decomposition. This process is done at the source point itself so that requirement of space at the work site is reduced. On completion of composting, the material is transported to the plant in closed bags.

The decomposed raw material from the fields are crude and contain particles of different sizes. These are fed into a ball mill and powdered and sieved to obtain grains of fairly uniform particle size. The powder is loaded into specially designed process vessel called thombai and steam at suitable temperature and pressure is passed into this vessel for controlled duration for sterilizing the compost. On completion of sterilization, the product is fed into a vertical mixer where its homogenity and moisture are controlled. It then passes through a paddle mixer where the microbial culture is impregnated and mixed thoroughly so that product is suitable for pelletisation. The microbial culture is a broth that contains beneficial microorganisms like nitrogen fixers, phosphate solubilizers, sulfur and iron mobilizers, biocontrol agents, growth promoters, etc.

This processed material is then fed to the pellet mill at a controlled rate where the powder material is converted in to pellets of 8-10 mm diameter and 25-50 mm length depending on the die used. The pellets are fed to the drier and dried to required moisture level. It is then stored in a silo and passes throught the automatic bagging system where it gets packed in the bags to the desired quantities automatically. These bags are then stored in the finished products storage.
