 ASEAN-India Innovation Platform (AIIP)

Research Innovation (Coordinated by NRDC, New Delhi)

 

        Under the overall aegis of ASEAN-India Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Program, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India has entrusted the job to manage and coordinated the ASEAN-India Innovation Platform (Research Innovation component) to National Research Development Corporation (NRDC).

        NRDC shall create and develop a databank of technologies/ Innovations etc available in India and ASEAN Members States under single platform and make available for transfer and commercialization for Indian as well as ASEAN entrepreneurs. The proposed data bank will link existing data banks/portal of available technologies in the ASEAN and Indian region.

        Besides developing the data bank, NRDC will undertake other tasks like selection and validation of technologies through expert committees for identifying the potential technologies for transfer  in ASEAN members to Indian entrepreneurs and vice versa; to perform need analysis of technological requirements by organizing annual meets in India of ASEAN members; follow-up meets to update and review; and organizing capacity building training programm on Technology and intellectual property management.

        The ASEAN-India Innovation Platform (AIIP) is a major element of the enhanced the ASEAN-India S&T Development Fund, which is a part of ASEAN-India Science & Technology Collaboration. The AIIP comprises of following 3 sub-components-

  1. Social Innovations (being coordinated by National Innovation Foundation)
  2. Research Innovations (being coordinated by NRDC)
  3. Product Innovation (being coordinated by FICCI)

The Major objective of the AIIP Research Innovation portal is:

  • Creation of extensive database/research work and Intellectual properties.
  • Creation of a single platform to access the technologies developed in India and ASEAN countries.
  • Facilitation of technology seekers and technology owners through a interactive and dynamic portal.
  • Bridging the technological gap between inventor, industry, manufacturers & academia of ASEAN countries.
  • Helping the member countries in networking with people to share ideas, experiences, problems faced and their solutions.
  • To work as a single source of Information for ASEAN countries about inclusive innovation, sectors such as health, education, food and agriculture, environment and natural resources, science and technology etc. are the thrust area.
  • Helping at networking the industries of ASEAN and India with the IP knowledge bases for employment and wealth creation.

DEMONSTRATING INNOVATIVE PROTOTYPES FOR START-UPS AWARDS - 2018

National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) on behalf of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India organising a CONTEST FOR DEMONSTRATING INNOVATIVE PROTOTYPES FOR START-UPS with an objective to encourage inventive talent in the Country.

In this regard, NRDC invites online applications from science and engineering students, and research scholars for the above contest. The selected innovative prototypes will be exhibited in the Innovate India 2018 conference. Applicants must submit a business plan and short video of innovation along with the application to take-off the idea/ prototype to a start-up needs to be enclosed.

The developed methodology for processing MSW and development of design specifications for construction of road layers. It would result in utilization of Municipal Solid Wastes (MSW) from landfill for road embankment construction. (A Waste to Wealth) comprises of following:
·     About 65-75% of segregated Municipal Solid Wastes can be used for   road embankment construction.
·     Leachate studies indicate that MSW is a non-hazardous material as concentration of heavy metals is within the permissible limit.

 NRDC TO DEVELOP ASEAN TECHNOLOGY DATA BANK – Business Line, April – 4th 2018

The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) will establish a technology data bank for ASEAN (Association of Southeastern Asian Nations) region as part of ASEAN-India Innovation Platform.

The corporation has been entrusted by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to manage the platform for a period of four years. The proposed data bank will link existing data banks of available technologies in the ASEAN region. “We will undertake maintenance and normalisation of collected data including sourcing of ideas online from India and ASEAN countries,” Dr. H. Purushotham, chairman and managing director of NRDC, told India Science Wire.

“We have been given the responsibility of bringing whatever technologies are available in India and ASEAN on one platform and make it available for commercialisation for Indian as well as ASEAN entrepreneurs,” he said.

Besides developing the data bank, NRDC will undertake other tasks like selection and validation of technologies through expert committees for identifying the potential technology in ASEAN members; to perform need analysis of technological requirements by organising annual meet in India of ASEAN members for need assessment on the data generated through participation in different platforms; follow-up meet to update and review; and organising training programmes on Technology and intellectual property management.

The innovation platform is a major element of the enhanced the ASEAN-India S&T Development Fund, which is a part of ASEAN-India Science & Technology Collaboration formally started in 1996. Initially, the collaborative projects were supported through ASEAN-India Fund, but in 2008 a dedicated ASEAN-India S&T Development Fund with an equivalent amount of US$ 1 million was established jointly by Ministry of External Affairs and DST. The fund was enhanced to an equivalent amount of US$ 5 million in November 2015.

“DST will implement three major components under this project. First, there will be ASEAN-India Research and Training fellowship for researchers for six months. The entire expenditure will be met out of the fund allocated” said R K Sharma, scientist in the International Multilateral Research Cooperation (IMRC) Division of DST.

The second component will be ASEAN- India collaborative Research and Development program.

Under this ten projects would be supported for three years. The third component would be ASEAN-India innovation platform with three components - social innovation, research innovation and product innovation.

The social innovation part would be dealt by the National Innovation Foundation, Ahmedabad, while research innovation part will be handled by NRDC and FICCI will deal with the product innovation component.

Proposals are invited under NRDC – IFC Programme

 

Proposals are invited under NRDC – IFC Programme from Universities,  National Institutes of Technology (NIT’s), IIT’s, Autonomous Institutions & Academic Institutions of India, involved in Research and Development in various Scientific disciplines and willing to collaborate with NRDC for setting up NRDC- Innovation Facilitation Centre (NRDC – IFC) in their premises.

The last date for submission of the proposal at NRDC is on or before 31st August, 2018 upto 5.30 pm.
