Institutional Agreement signed for Setting up WIPO-Technology Innovation Support Centre at NRDC-IPFC Visakhapatnam


During CII Partnership Summit 2018 at Visakhapatnam, in the august  presence of Honourable Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Suresh Prabhu and  Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Dr H Purushotham, CMD, NRDC and Dr Ashish Kumar, SDO, DIPP, Govt of India  exchange the MOA for setting of WIPO-Technology Innovation Support Centre at NRDC-IPFC Visakhapatnam on 25th February 2018. Mr Siddant Chouksey, CIPAM and Mr Bijaya Kumar Sahu, Officer-In-charge, NRDC-IPFC Visakhapatnam also joined during the agreement exchange ceremony. 

NRDC-IPFC, Visakhapatnam, has been selected as third United Nation-WIPO Technology and Innovation support centre (TISC) in India. DIPP, Govt of India has been playing an active role in establishing WIPO’s Technology and Innovation support centre (TISC) network in India. The basic objectives of the TISC  provides innovators and entrepreneurs in the country with access to locally based, high quality technology information and related services, helping them to exploit their innovative potential and to create, protect, and manage their Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) like Patent, Trademark, design , and Geographical Indication of Goods (GI). TISC to stimulate a dynamic, vibrant and balanced IPR system in India to foster creativity and innovation, thereby promoting entrepreneurship and enhancing social, economic and cultural development by establishing a network of TISCs in India. National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), under Ministry of S&T, Govt of India has been serving the nation for over six decades for the development, promotion and transfer of technologies/knowhow/Intellectual Property (IP) emanating from R&D organizations and academic institutions. NRDC is leveraging in working under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, NRDC has developed a wide network with R & D organizations, industries, industry associations, etc. NRDC, over last six decades r has resulted in transfer of technologies to more than 5000 entrepreneurs in India and abroad.

It is an UN-WIPO Centre, third Centre in India .Many opportunities NRDC is getting and exploring its collaboration. Now we get  patent search data base and many more are in pipeline. Since DPIIT, Govt of India is focal point. Please visit the WIPO link.

This is the centre which has received more then 85 lac in technology transfer  in last FY and received more then 70 IP application from various organisations including Ministry of Defence
